Job Description:

DESCRIPTION: These two positions will assist with conservation practices/land management activities within 3 areas of the Southeast Region of the Parks Division. Positions will headquarter out of Indian Cave State Park. These are temporary full-time positions.
JOB DUTIES: Under general direction of Southeast Region Superintendent and area Park Superintendents, these positions will assist in the implementation of a wide-variety of land management activities. These activities will include control of invasive species, woodland management, and related conservation practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of principles, techniques and application of natural resources management and conservation. Ability to communicate effectively, work with little supervision and with a variety of staff. Knowledge of and ability to operate ATVs and UTVs, brushcutters, chainsaws. Ability to identify deciduous woodland tree and shrub and other plant species, tallgrass prairie plant species, and invasive plants.

REQUIREMENTS: 12 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in parks/recreation management, wildlife management, natural resources and/or biology OR 6 months experience in parks/recreation, wildlife or fisheries management. Valid driver's license required.
