POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the Kitchen Manager in a youth-focused Food Service program aimed at the provision of nutritious and appealing meals in a safe and clean environment while providing a high-quality camp experience for program participants, families, and visitors. Kitchen assistants prepare meals using Camp K guidelines, keep kitchen inventory, practice heath/sanitation efforts, and help maintain Camp K kitchen equipment. Kitchen Assistants promote, encourage, and demonstrate excellent skills in communication, relationship development, respect for diversity and empowerment/involvement of youth when working with campers. You'll have a great opportunity to be a positive role model for the campers while living on Camp K in the Chugach National Forest with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife, and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door!  


PROGRAM OVERVIEW:


  • Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp.
  • Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.
  • Dates: All Staff training begins mid-May. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.
  • Time: Camp K offers several sessions throughout the summer ranging from 4 days to 9 days. 
  • Staff Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. Camp sessions range from 4 days/3 nights to 9 days/8 nights throughout the summer. There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska Summer. 
  • Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in a camp setting is preferred.
  • If 21+, valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles with ability to drive and maneuver 16 passenger vans and trailer in tow, is preferred.
