Job Description:

JOB DUTIES:
• Administer, manage, and provide staff for campgrounds, groundskeeping maintenance, education building, shooting range, and equestrian operations.
• Equestrian care, utility and infrastructure operations, concessions aquarium care.
• Maintenance, operation, and ordering of tools, materials, and equipment.
• Lead and communicate with the community and public in the efforts of park development and promotion.
• Assist with and lead special events and nature education.
• Hire, train, and supervise seasonal staff.
• Collect data, maintain records, prepare reports, collect fees, ensure staff/visitor safety.
• Communicate effectively with two park operations and supervisors.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND two years related experience including one year in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Valid driver's license.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and interest in park management, principles and techniques of supervision, Nebraska wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor recreation.
  • Equestrian knowledge and care.
  • Clearly present and communicate information to varied audiences.
  • Work and make decisions independently and as a team.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and administrative personnel.
  • Drive and transport materials to different areas of the park and the surrounding venture park areas.
  • Willingness to learn about natural history, nature education, aquarium care, shooting skills, kayaking, and share with the general public.
  • Bend, stoop, climb, reach frequently; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
