The Education Ambassador serves as guide to guests to provide information about exhibits, regulations, and the facility. Their job is to deliver an incredible and memorable experience to our guests through teaching them about the animals we have and interacting with them.

We are currently looking for a:

Living Shores - Education Ambassador

Roles & Responsibilities:

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Staff the public areas of the exhibit and direct and teach the guests
    • Perform talks to groups of guests about various exhibits and animals
    • Help create educational materials
    • Oversee crowd flow and ensure viewing etiquette guidelines are followed by visitors
    • Provide assistance to Animal Care staff including but not limited to feeding animals, cleaning exhibits, or supporting other day-to-day operations and projects
    • Staff the exhibit at special after-hours events upon request
    • Assist in daily cleaning and sanitization
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Experience working with aquatic animals/reptiles/amphibians preferred but not required

    • Good public speaking skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Enjoy working with the public and serving a diverse population.
    • Especially enjoy working with children.
    • Ability to work comfortably in large crowds
    • Comfortability with being trained to handle animals including lizards, snakes, insects, birds, and others
    • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality
    • Possess a customer service-oriented demeanor
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member, and independently with little supervision.
    • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays
