Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term 

Salary: Starting at ¥450,000, depending on experience.


Position Summary: 


As the retail manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our stores across Japan are offering the best in-store experience for retail customers as possible. The role includes innovating how we sell, nailing the in-store look and feel, and ensuring continuity in experience and procedures while keeping our store unique and progressive. Through winter, the role acts as a conduit between in-store teams and the wider merchandise team. Your goal will be to drive sales, enhance customer engagement, and maintain a visually appealing store environment.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between the merchandise and operations teams.
  • Drive the innovation of the in-store retail department.
  • Drive the operations team to achieve departmental objectives, focusing on customer service excellence, in-store presentation, and revenue targets.
  • Liaise with the merchandise team to discuss product demand, customer trends, and missed opportunities.
  • Oversee all in-store retail procedures, including warranty management, shop floor replenishments, and daily task lists to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of store appearance and atmosphere across all locations.
  • Collaborate on planning and executing in-store promotional campaigns to drive sales and enhance customer engagement.
  • Manage shop fittings and visual merchandising program to ensure the store layout and displays are visually appealing and promote products effectively.
  • Organize/lead senior staff training with a focus on product knowledge, customer service, and sales techniques.


Employee Management 

  • Involved in the recruitment of key employees.
  • Motivate and coach employees to achieve sales targets and deliver excellent customer service. 
  • Training of key staff ensuring continuity through resorts
  • Prepare work schedules and delegate tasks where required
  • Involved in performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Ensure a positive and productive work environment.


General Duties

  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service, resolving customer complaints, and handling any issues that may arise.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on expenses, and other key performance indicators.
  • Handle any issues that arise, such as staffing problems, customer complaints, or inventory shortages.


Requirements for the role:

  • Retail management experience.
  • Training and development background are a plus.
  • Visual merchandise experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
