The Resource Assistants Program seeks to engage ethnically and racially diverse young professionals in natural resource careers. You must be:

Position Description: 

The Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers Specialist Resource Assistant (RA) will work between the Region 1 office and the Washington Office within the Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers program. The RA will support projects such as training programs, contributing towards research projects, data entry, and editing plus revising forest service policy.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of training and resources, data entry, developing reports, and attending meetings
  • Support with the completion of a user capacity on Wild and Scenic River 
  • Assisting towards the completion of a Comprehensive River Management Plan 
  • Support two research projects as a contributing member focused on recreation use on wilderness and wild and scenic rivers user capacity

 

Qualifications:

Major studies relevant to this position: Bachelor is required. A Masters Degree in a recreation, wilderness, or rivers related field is preferred

  • Experience working with wilderness or wild and scenic rivers; working on research projects that examine recreation use on wilderness and wild and scenic river systems 
  • Strong communication skills with a passion for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion; strong 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and understanding of user capacities on wild and scenic rivers
